Bell & Ross for Peugeot
It seems that renowned Swiss watchmaker Bell & Ross has contributed a significant design to the vehicle that will come in the form of a special-edition timepiece.
Its stainless steel 46mm square case houses a gorgeous dial that resembles a snowflake with its intricacy; Bell & Ross achieved this through what they call some of the most advanced machining processes currently available. Four Arabic hour marks are surrounded by metal ridges that are designed to catch light, and the nickel-plated hour and minute hands are industrial and bold but fit well with the overall theme. The timepiece’s grained leather strap is made from exactly the same leather as the Peugeot’s interior. Look for the SR1 and its stunning dashboard watch to debut in Geneva next month.

Mercedes-Benz F 800 Hybrid or Hydrogen Concept
In their pursue of the perfect “green†car, some automakers tend to withheld on styling and design. Thus why the 3rd generation Toyota Prius still looks like a glorified hatchback. Other automakers forgo the re-design process altogether. Instead, base its style, such as the Ford Fusion Hybrid, on current model line for a quick gain in market share. To address these design lapses and troubling trends, Mercedes-Benz created the F 800 Style Concept, a research platform that fits squarely on the issues of style and environmentally sound vehicle.
Designed as a flagship vehicle for its future lineup, the Mercedes-Benz F 800 Style is a five-seat premium sedan with 2 forms of alternative power trains – a hydrogen full cell concept with a range of almost 600 kilometers and a Plug-In Hybrid with a range of 30 kilometers. Considerations were made in the passengers’ comfort by the carful positioning of the full cells and/or batteries, maximize the interior space of the vehicle. A lack of B-pillar equals an unobtrusive entry into the car. Yet its rigid body frame exceeds Mercedes’ own stringent safety standard.
Not lacking in luxury appointments and amenities, the F 800 Style incorporates genuine wood paneling done in a three-dimensional veneer process. Seats are as lightweight as they are sturdy, consists of a magnesium alloy shell with a carbon fiber seat back.
The concept vehicle also marks the introduction of Human-Machine Interface (HMI), a next generation instrument and display cluster set to replace the current Mercedes’ COMAND “infotainment system“. A camera-base touchpad control on the center console ensure intuitive yet accurate command of climate control system, telephone, stereo and navigation systems, and Internet access. A upgraded DISTRONIC PLUS Traffic Jam Assistant guidance system automatically guide the vehicle into turns and cornering up to 40 km per hour without human assistance.
The Mercedes-Benz F 800 Style Concept Vehicle will make its public debut next month at the Geneva Auto Show.

Bugatti 16C Galibier

The question of whether or not Volkswagen will decide to put the Bugatti 16C Galibier into production is still unanswered. While we’ve heard rumors that the German automaker was leaning towards the affirmative, a final decision has apparently not yet been made.
Still, Bugatti is making sure all of its ducks are in a row… just in case. Evidence of such can be seen in a trademark filing with the World Intellectual Property Organization that seeks to keep other automakers from stealing the car’s design and shape. After all, it’s happened before.
With Veyron production scheduled to come to an end after the 2012 model year, Bugatti only has a little bit of time to decide if it’s moving forward on that supercar’s successor, and if so, whether or not the front-engine, four-door Galibier is the direction it needs to go. We should know soon enough.

Audi exec: Obama’s love for electric vehicles premature

Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen feels that President Obama’s administration may be a little closed minded to other clean energy alternatives. Johan says Washington may be in love with the idea of electric cars, there’s plenty more that can be done with cars powered by diesel. VW & Audi have held the title for the “Green Car Of the Year” for the past 2 years.  ”I understand why political leaders have fallen in love with hybrids and electrics. But this may be the one time you’ll hear someone in Washington say it shouldn’t be a monogamous relationship,” He noted that if one-third of U.S. vehicles used diesel power, “America would save 1.5 million barrels of oil a day” — the same amount the United States imports from Saudi Arabia daily.
