Who would have thought that we would see any of this again in the sneaker world. Earlier this week people started lining up and camping out in front of sneaker stores to get their hands onto the re-issue of the Air Jordan 11 Retro Concord, which was scheduled to release today, December 23rd, 2012.

Now reports have come up that police had to shut down several malls in Austin and Seattle and had to use pepper spray to keep the crowd in order. There is even a report of a young man dying after being stabbed over the shoes in Washington, D.C. In Richmond, California the shoe sales were canceled at Hilltop Mall after shots were fired into the air. Watch the news clips here

One of the more exciting features of the sneaker from a tech aspect is the interchangeability provided by the higher end System Supreme version. Drawing on the successes of the swappable insoles from the Air Jordan 2011, the sneaker sets up the ‘Attack Fast’ and ‘Attack Strong’ system catering to two different play styles. This is achieved through front to back Zoom unit coverage in the Fast version and a Cushlon midsole and extra ankle padding in the Strong version. Follow us after the jump for a more nuanced look at the differences between the two and let us know if you’ll be springing the extra cash for the upgrade. more pics

Check out NBA Superstar Kevin Durant and Nike Basketball designer Leo Chang discussing Kevin’s fourth signature shoe, the Nike Zoom KD IV.

Launching December 3, the Nike Zoom KD IV features the new Adaptive Fit system, Hyperfuse construction and a Zoom Air unit — a versatile combination for one of basketball’s most electric players.

The Nike Zoom KD IV was built to the exact specifications of Durant, who is closely involved in the design process with Nike Basketball Footwear Design Director Leo Chang. Chang has led the design for all four of Durant’s Nike signature shoes since 2008. Incorporated for the first time in a basketball shoe, the new Adaptive Fit system provides a lock-down fit with a synthetic strap that wraps up from the inside of the upper and integrates with the laces for superior fit and lateral support.

The Hyperfuse construction on the upper is a composite of three different layers of material that are fused together using a pressing process to create a nearly seamless, one-piece upper that is lightweight, breathable and durable. Furthermore, the Nike Zoom unit in the forefoot provides lightweight, low-profile and responsive cushioning. Lastly, a low collar design provides optimal support and flexibility through the ankle and makes this a versatile shoe for multiple positions on the court.

NEW YORK — Sticking to his deadline, NBA Commissioner David Stern erased the first two weeks of the season after negotiations failed to produce a new labor deal and warned that more games were in jeopardy of being cut.

“With every day that goes by, I think we need to look at further reductions in what’s left of the season,” Stern said.

The cancellations mark the NBA’s first work stoppage since the 1998-99 season was reduced to 50 games.

“The gap is so significant that we just can’t bridge it at this time,” Stern said. “We certainly hoped it would never come to this.”

Union president Derek Fisher agreed, emphasizing that missing any games puts the season in jeopardy.

“This is not where we choose to be,” he said. “We’re not at a place where a fair deal can be reached with the NBA.”

Stern said last week he would cancel the first two weeks of the season Monday without a new collective bargaining agreement. Top negotiators for both sides met for more than seven hours Monday, the longest session to date, after bargaining for more than five hours Sunday. The two sides expect to remain in contact, but no additional formal talks have been scheduled.

Stern said both sides are “very far apart on virtually all issues. … We just have a gulf that separates us.”

Opening night was scheduled for Nov. 1, and the cancellation includes all games scheduled to be played through Nov. 14 – exactly 100 games. Affected arenas have been authorized to release dates for those dates.

The adidas Gazelle, first spotted in the late 60′s, has been spotted in a bright new colorway today. This particular colorway features an all orange suede upper that is complimented with white accents on the three-stripe logo, midsole, tongue and insole. This pair also features gold embossing on the side panels as well as a blue tongue label. Over the past few years this model has gained quite a following and continues to be a great streamlined, wedge shaped pair.
