That’s not Photoshop. The Dutch artist Berndnaut Smilde has developed a way to create a small, perfect white cloud in the middle of a room. It requires meticulous planning: the temperature, humidity and lighting all have to be just so. Once everything is ready, Smilde summons the cloud out of the air using a fog machine. It lasts only moments, but the effect is dramatic and strangely moving. It evokes both the surrealism of Magritte and the classical beauty of the old masters while reminding us of the ephemerality of art and nature.

Here’s some info on why drinking lemon water is highly recommended and should become a regular habbit for all:

1. Boosts your immune system: Lemons are high in vitamin C, which is great for fighting colds.  They’re high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Potassium also helps control blood pressure.

2. Balances pH: Drink lemon water everyday and you’ll reduce your body’s overall acidity. Lemon is one of the most alkaline foods around. Yes, lemon has citric acid but it does not create acidity in the body once metabolized.

3. Helps with weight loss:   Lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. It also has been shown that people who maintain a more alkaline diet (see #2) lose weight faster.

4. Aids digestion:  Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials. It encourages the liver to produce bile which is an acid that required for digestion. Efficient digestion reduces heartburn and constipation.

5. Is a diuretic: Lemons increase the rate of urination in the body, which helps purify it. Toxins are, therefore, released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy.

6. Clears skin:  The vitamin C component helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Lemon water purges toxins from the blood which helps keep skin clear as well. It can actually be applied directly to scars to help reduce their appearance.

7. Freshens breath: Not only this, but it can help relieve tooth pain and gingivitis. The citric acid can erode tooth enamel, so you should monitor this. I admit, I’m slightly worried about it.

8. Relieves respiratory problems: Warm lemon water helps get rid of chest infections and halt those pesky coughs. It’s thought to be helpful to people with asthma and allergies too.

9. Keeps you zen: Vitamin C is one of the first things depleted when you subject your mind and body to stress. As mentioned previously, lemons are chock full of vitamin C.

10. Helps kick the coffee habit:  Have a glass of hot lemon water and feel the difference.

Additional Tips

- Drink your warm lemon water in coffee cups that has coffee or tea stains.  The lemon water will help remove them.

- Grind the used lemon rinds in your garbage disposal to help deodorize it.

The only thing better than sustainable development and eco fashion? Eco fashion designers working to support sustainable development. Thanks to Clairvoyant Marketing Agency, Origin Africa and In the Bag – this is exactly the kind of designer that this year’s Hub of Africa Fashion Week is highlighting on the Ethiopian runway. Participating designers are required to create a line emphasizing sustainable development and eco fashion. Awards given out at the show will include the opportunity to participate in Africa Fashion Week New York, or Ethical Fashion Week, in Paris. According to Hub of Africa’s site, the week’s sponsors desire to take a stand, “recognizing that poverty and economic instability could be a huge distress in the continent if various measures are not taken into consideration.”The site continues on to explain that one of the week’s main objectives will be to unite the provide a platform promoting trade development and environmental fashion through featuring designers and industry individuals in Africa that, together, will create a new platform for a cleaner future.According to The Africa Report, the organizers have communicated that, “The show sends a powerful message to the rest of the world that the African fashion industry is open and ready for business – and that it can do this business differently – sustainably.”

My name is Dami “Dee” Oyelola and I am new to the Broccoli City family but so blessed to be a part of the organic lifestyle initiative that this brand represents! I hail from Nigeria originally, but have lived in the United States for the vast majority of my life. You can currently find me in Pennsylvania where I am studying Food Science at Penn State University. When I’m not holed up in the library, listening to some delicious hip-hop music, spending time with friends and family, losing myself in a book, or shopping at thrift stores, I’m most likely working on That GOOD GOOD Blog, a website I created about a year and a half ago that focuses on fashion, music, and art produced by young individuals of color. Blogging has served as a great creative outlet for me and has quickly become one of my many passions in life. Last year my blog was fortunate enough to nominated and a finalist in 3 categories of the Black Weblog Awards last summer. I am so excited to see what the future holds and so happy to share some gems I come across with you all on the Broccoli City blog!

She is dope, so happy to have her!!
