Hair Stylist Vidal Sassoon Dies At Age 84
The hairstylist who is credited with creating the “bob” hairstyle has passed away at age 84 after a long battle with leukemia. LA Times reports:
Law enforcement sources did not disclose the nature of the illness, but numerous media organizations have been reporting for some time that Sassoon, 84, was battling leukemia. The sources said he died at his Mulholland Drive estate and that his doctors will make final death notifications.
In 1954, he opened his first salon in London. “I gave myself five years. If I couldn’t change anything, I was out of there.”
“When I first came into hair, women were coming in and you’d place a hat on their hair and you’d dress their hair around it,” Sassoon said. “We learned to put discipline in the haircuts by using actual geometry, actual architectural shapes and bone structure. The cut had to be perfect and layered beautifully, so that when a woman shook it, it just fell back in.”
He eventually opened a New York salon. In 1973, his hair-care products debuted to the trade. A couple of years later, he moved to Los Angeles, and by 1980, he even briefly had his own American television talk show. It was quite a life for a poor boy from London’s East End.

Obesity could affect 42% of Americans by 2030
Via USAToday.com– A new forecast on obesity in America has health experts fearing a dramatic jump in health care costs if nothing is done to bring it under control.”The obesity problem is likely to get much worse without a major public health intervention,” says health economist Eric Finkelstein.
“If nothing is done, it’s going to hinder efforts for health care cost containment,” says Justin Trogdon, a research economist with RTI International, a non-profit organization in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park.
- Extra weight takes a significant toll on health. It increases the risks of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, many types of cancer, sleep apnea and other debilitating and chronic illnesses.
Note: There is a direct correlation between rising obsesity in America and health care costs. Be well & take care of yourselves beautiful people… – Jay

James Cameron Says Avatar 2, 3, & 4 Are On The Way…
In a new interview with the NY Times, director extraordinaire James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) says that he plans on making at least three more installments of the highly popular sci-fi film.
NY Times: What about scripts that you’re looking at? Is there a project that you’re working on right now? Or subject matters or general areas of interest that you’re looking at?
James Cameron: I’ve made two movies in 16 years, and I’ve done eight expeditions. Last year I basically completely disbanded my production company’s development arm. So I’m not interested in developing anything. I’m in the “Avatar” business. Period. That’s it. I’m making “Avatar 2,” “Avatar 3,” maybe “Avatar 4,” and I’m not going to produce other people’s movies for them. I’m not interested in taking scripts. And that all sounds I suppose a little bit restricted, but the point is I think within the “Avatar” landscape I can say everything I need to say that I think needs to be said, in terms of the state of the world and what I think we need to be doing about it.
