BC: “What was so Organic about the process of creating AWBG?”

Issa: The process of creating ABG was so organic because the idea came from my natural experiences with people and various situations. I reached out to people I knew to create the first episode and used any all resources I had to make the project come together. ABG is a major extension of me.

A very cool new gadget is being tested in the Abu Dhabi desert is the new Eole Water wind turbine. Eole Water uses a wind turbine to condense water from the air and pumps it into storage tanks for filtration and purification.

A concept has been in place in the Abu Dhabi since October of 2011 and has been able to produce 500-800 liters of clean drinking water. Eole Water says this machine is capable of creating over 1,000 Liters of water with a high powered machine. The machine only needs winds to be 15mph to produce water. What do you think of this technology?

Seems like Wal-Mart has flown under the radar in playing it’s part in going green. Recently Wal-Mart released it’s latest sustainability report, which shows how much it has reduced waste, increased locally grown produce, increased renewable energy usage, and a whole lot of other interesting things. Here are some more interesting facts:

  • 80.9% of Wal-Mart’s waste from US operations was diverted from landfills last year—a figure achieved by “recycling, donating, and repurposing waste.”
  • Locally grown produce now makes up 10% of all Wal-Mart food sales in the US. That’s an increase of 97% over the previous year. Wal-Mart defines local as grown and sold within the same state.
  • Wal-Mart used 1.1 billion kWh of green electricity last year, moving it up to second-place in the EPA rankings of onsite renewable energy generation—a ranking, it’s worth noting, Wal-Mart achieved by only counting stores in certain states as participating in the program.
  • Wal-Mart has saved customers $1 billion via “reducing or eliminating the price premium on more than 350 better-for-you items including low-sodium lunch meat, reduced fat peanut butter and fat-free salad dressing.

Today I had the privilege to go and speak to the “Gardening” Students over at John Muir High School (Pasadena,CA), and man they are doing some incredible things under the leadership of my associate and close friend Mud Baron. Mud Baron and Doss Jones have started to give away seedlings for school gardens in Los Angeles. I learned a lot from the students, still trying to process half of it. But great trip and so happy for being able to experience them first hand. We got to get more money for these gardens…It will happen soon, Hopefully. [Read more...]
