Our Community is the epicenter of tomorrow. As an institution of Community Outreach and Education, Broccoli City’s mission is bridging the gap between the green and urban community though philanthropy, educational seminars, volunteer programs and partnerships. Our focus is education, green awareness, self confidence, physical activity and nutrition. Understanding that it truly takes a village, we set out to effectively achieve community servitude by establishing strong relationships with organization, athletes, entertainers and institutions of learning.

Broccoli City “Healthy Hoods”: In each city that Broccoli City Festivals take place we establish “Healthy Hoods” where we focus on particular neighborhood(s) to create safe green spaces, and healthy living strategy programs that lead to community wide, collective, reduction in blood pressure. We also work with local farmers markets, grocery stores and farms to increase access to healthy and affordable food in food deserts.

Peer Education Programs

In Washington, DC we are working with Green Scheme on curriculums that empower teens as peer educators teaching others about living healthy living, focusing on food choices, and along with non-profit partners Green Scheme and Dreaming Out Loud.

  • Worked with the DC Department of Environment to offer free home energy audits, weatherproofing kits, and provided residents strategies to live more sustainable.

  • Managed weekly local farmers markets to increase access to healthy and affordable food in food deserts and low-income areas.

  • Partner with Non-profits Green Scheme and Dreaming Out Loud on their urban agriculture, workforce development, and youth education programs.

  • Partnered with DC Sustainable Energy Utility to give away 1,000 incandescent energy efficient lightbulbs.

  • Conduct weekly classes about healthy living strategies to families in Lincoln Heights and Willard Terrace, 2 of the largest public housing neighborhoods in DC, food desert areas.

  • Highlighted physical fitness by giving away free memberships to Capital Bikeshare, as well as free Yoga, Zumba, and workout classes.

  • Promoted Public Transportation to lower the carbon footprint by giving away free DC Metro bus rides.
