China Environmental Protection Foundation worked with artist Jodi Xiong to create this “Green Pedestrian Crossing.” The outdoor public art project had the image of a tree on a white canvas 12.6 metres long by 7 metres. The canvas was placed on a road close to traffic lights.

As people walked over the leafless tree, they walked first over a sponge on the sidewalk. The green sponge made sure the walkers left green marks over the leafless tree, slowly converting it into a leafy green tree. Quite a creative way of getting a sublime message across. Start walking folks.
