ABOUT THE BUKU PROJECT:

The Buku Music + Art Project (www.thebukuproject.com) is an 8,000-capacity multi-stage
multi-day music and arts festival taking place on March 17 and 18, 2012 at Mardi Gras World
(www.mardigrasworld.com), along the Mississippi River in New Orleans. Early bird and discount
tickets are already sold out. The BUKU Project features some of the hottest and most relevant
artists in electronic and hip-hop music, whose headliners boast 9 Grammy nominations, cover
stories on Billboard, Rolling Stone and Spin, and even a Super Bowl Bud Light commercial. The
BUKU lineup features 34 artists including Skrillex, Wiz Khalifa, Avicii, Diplo, YelaWolf, Porter
Robinson, Big KRIT, Big Freedia, Yelle DJ’s, Gramatik, and 13 NOLA acts supporting the local
music scene.

BUKU PROJECT GREENING EFFORTS:
Biodiesel generators powering the event
Potential solar power on site
Use of LED site lighting to reduce energy needs
Using all local food vending featuring healthy, unique and/or indigenous dishes
Recycling onsite using a local contractor
Many art projects using reused or recycled materials incorporating local artists
Potential partnership with Whole Foods Market to provide all artist and staff mostly organic
healthy diets while onsite, prepared by a local chief.

BUKU ART:
• A variety of different types of art and artists will be onsite throughout the event
• Local street artist doing installations and live painting
• Laser tag graffiti at night between acts on the main stage

• Tulane University Architecture dept displaying sculpture work designed by staff and
constructed by the students
• Green wall displaying the BUKU name as well as one other piece of living art
• Recycled bottle light bright utilizing bottles collected by the community and filled with water
and food coloring (interactive)
